Under the clear skies of central Italy, the third round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series unfolds at the Viterbo Karting Track. Both the OK and OK Junior categories were pushed to the limit in Qualifying Practice. As the field adapted to the challenges of the fast, flowing layout just outside Rome, lap times were extremely close across the board.
Zulfikari Sets the Benchmark in OK Junior Qualifying Practice
The OK Junior category saw a strong start to the weekend as Iskender Zulfikari set the fastest overall time in Qualifying Practice with a 52.980, laying down an early marker for the rest of the grid. Dan Allemann was second quickest with a 53.092, closely followed by William Calleja at 53.098. Ilie Tristan Crisan and Juan Garciace also featured in the top five, all within just over two-tenths of the leader.
The first six qualifying heats brought a mix of results for the front-runners. Zulfikari opened with a heat win but dropped out of another while leading. Calleja and Garciace each picked up two wins, establishing themselves as consistent threats, while Allemann and Crisan also secured strong finishes. With more heats scheduled for Friday, the fight for final grid positions is still wide open.
Marsh Leads the Way as OK Times Come Down to the Wire
In the OK category, Scott Marsh posted the quickest lap across all groups with a 51.403, just edging out Nicolo Cuman, who set a 51.412, and Christian Costoya, who recorded a 51.470. Marco Garst and Jindrich Pesl completed the top five, with all drivers separated by barely a tenth. Further down the order, Thibaut Ramaekers and Sebastiano Pavan were not far off the pace and remain firmly in contention. Kenzo Craigie and Chiara Battig also impressed with strong lap times.
Scott Marsh converted his pole into two strong wins during the heats. Christian Costoya and Kenzo Craigie also picked up victories, while Nicolo Cuman and Marco Garst stayed consistently in the front pack. With standout drives from Jindrich Pesl, Chiara Battig, and Thibaut Ramaekers, the fight for the finals is wide open heading into Friday.
With six heats already in the books and more still to come tomorrow, the battle is wide open. Friday is shaping up to be an exciting day ahead of Saturday’s final.
